Unicon Research Corporation, founded in 1979, has produced the CPS Utilities, a set of data, documentation and extraction software, since the early 1990s. The CPS Utilities provides easy access to over 40 years of data from the Current Population Survey along with comprehensive documentation and original survey questionnaires. More recently, Unicon has released Medicare Data Utilities, containing Medicare data on individuals in the HRS/AHEAD survey, NLTCS Utilities, containing data from the National Long Term Care Surveys, and SIPP Utilities, containing data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation. Each of these products includes comprehensive documentation and valuable software tools, similar to those included in CPS Utilities.

Unicon will continue to undertake the independent development of data utilities that provide improved access to information from government sponsored surveys or administrative data. Unicon has helped design and review data gathering efforts of government sponsored agencies. In addition, senior staff members have served on advisory panels of the U.S. Bureau of the Census and the National Science Foundation, advising on data collection methods, questionnaire content, and reliability.

In addition to its data development activities, Unicon offers research expertise in economics and statistics and specializes in studies of housing finance, labor markets, and human resource issues. Unicon generally produces program evaluations or applied economic and statistical analyses for our clients, most of whom are government agencies. Our staff includes professionals trained in economics, statistics, and mathematics, who maintain strong academic ties, frequently publish in professional journals in economics, and who have extensive experience in government, academic, and think tank research and policy settings. Corporate strengths include research design and implementation, econometric techniques, processing of large databases, and survey/sampling design.
